Australians are becoming more aware of environmental issues and are trying to lessen this by switching to green energy produced by wind and water, recycling and more. But each year I also see that thousands tonnes of paper and trees are wasted on printing next edition of Yellow Pages. Last time I’ve used printed book was six years ago. Now I can looking up faster by using my computer or mobile phone.
And I am not alone. According to research 77.5% of Australians over the age of 14 use the Yellow Pages once a month or not at all. Also each household in Australia receives huge amounts of unsolicited printed advertisements. There is a law which makes sending e-mail spam illegal, but, surprisingly, sending the same kind of materials to your door in paper form seems to be a normal business practice.
