I’ve seen recently that some of the buses at Sydney CBD advertising that they run on “carbon neutral fuel”. Some people may think that these buses produce less pollution compared to other buses. It is not true. What actually happens is that some company buys carbon emission offsets from countries which are not using their allocated limit for gas emissions.

But there is a more efficient and more eco-friendly solution: electric bus, also known as a trolleybus in some countries. If these kind of electric buses were introduced in Sydney, the air would be a bit cleaner, since some portion of electricity is produced by power of wind and water. It should also be not as expensive to build and maintain compared to tram, railway or metro.
