Web sites

I prepared a list of websites optimized for mobile browsing on URL http://m.kozlenko.info . I’m planning to extend this list in future, so that that list regularly. New entry suggestions are welcome in comments.

Utilities

NetCounter

net_counter

Shows how much traffic did you use today, this week, this month and total. A must for Australians, since we do not have unlimited data plans. Also, some of us may not realise how much data is sent while watching some nice YouTube videos over the 3G connection.

Other

Google Goggles

That is a real hidden jewel from Google. You take a picture of some object, for example a book cover (it would be too easy to use the scan code on the back :-) ). Application analyses the image and shows the most likely matches to that image. For book that would be links to book shops and book reviews. For Coca-Cola logo it shows corporate site. Also supports different scan code types. Excellent tool for checking book reviews while in book store or comparing prices in store to online store offers.

Android Market

android market android market

Android Market application installed on device is much better than you may think after browsing through Android Market website. Its intuitive, provides user ratings and comments and makes searching for new applications easy. I think Google needs to provide that application as part of Android SDK, so user and do a test drive of available application before purchasing an actual device. In contrast with Apple AppStore monopoly, you can install applications from any other source, including direct HTTP links to Android applications which are strored with *.apk file extension.
